CTE Agriculture teacher Alexis Bellavigna and her mixed 10th–12th grade class took a field trip to Waverly’s Stray Haven Humane Society prior to winter break to learn about the vital roles Humane Society employees play each day, the meaning behind the motto “Adopt, Don’t Shop,” and the tremendous effort that goes into protecting four-legged friends who have been abandoned, lost, or are simply strays.
Students rolled up their sleeves to help clean kennels and food bowls, take dogs for walks, and cuddle kittens—gaining firsthand experience of the care and compassion that keep these shelters running.
Yet another #WGProud moment and experience for our students & faculty.

About 50 Watkins Glen High School students kept a cherished tradition alive today—unloading the Hesselson’s truck packed with gifts for the Seneca Santa program!
These presents, purchased wholesale from Hesselson’s, will soon bring joy to 202 children from 91 local families. WGHS athletes from the Varsity Track team and Boys & Girls Basketball teams formed a human chain to pass boxes from the truck to the church gym—a heartwarming ritual that proves teamwork shines both on and off the court.
Thank you to Peggy Scott, Hesselson’s, and all the volunteers who make this possible. 💙💚 Together, we’re making the season brighter for families in need!

The Grinch made an unexpected visit to Watkins Glen Elementary today… and let’s just say he brought plenty of holiday mischief with him! He snuck through classrooms, “borrowed” a few teachers’ belongings, and hid them away in one of our offices.
To top it off, he even tried to make off with a police car — but our amazing SRO, Officer Schutt, was on the scene in seconds and quickly apprehended our green troublemaker! 🚔💚
All stolen items were safely returned, smiles were restored, and WGES is once again calm, joyful, and ready for the holiday season.
Thanks to Officer Schutt for saving the day and to our staff and students for embracing the fun! 🎉💚

Makenzie earned her ticket to the NYSPHSAA State Swimming Championships last weekend with her state-qualifying times in the 100 backstroke during the IAC Class C Championships held in October, and then with her 1st-place finish at the Section IV Class C Championship Finals in the 200 IM.
Makenzie had great swims at the State Championship, placing 35th in the 200 IM prelims—just shy of the top 30 to compete in the Saturday Finals. However, she did claim a spot in the Finals with her 100 backstroke and placed 22nd amongst all classes, including the Federation schools, with a new PR and Storm backstroke record!
