The Grinch made an unexpected visit to Watkins Glen Elementary today… and let’s just say he brought plenty of holiday mischief with him! He snuck through classrooms, “borrowed” a few teachers’ belongings, and hid them away in one of our offices.
To top it off, he even tried to make off with a police car — but our amazing SRO, Officer Schutt, was on the scene in seconds and quickly apprehended our green troublemaker! 🚔💚
All stolen items were safely returned, smiles were restored, and WGES is once again calm, joyful, and ready for the holiday season.
Thanks to Officer Schutt for saving the day and to our staff and students for embracing the fun! 🎉💚

During his junior year, Dana earned a paid summer internship with Ward Apparatus, where he worked in the Fabrication Department helping assemble the bodies of fire trucks. His outstanding performance led to continued employment, and he is still contributing his skills and work ethic to the team today.
Dana’s success is a powerful example of what happens when talent, opportunity, and hard work come together. He is a proud representative of the Watkins Glen Class of 2026, and he continues to make us #WGProud every step of the way.

Starting Monday, November 3rd, Watkins Glen Elementary will be collecting aluminum pop tabs to support Ronald McDonald House Charities! 💖
It’s simple and makes a big difference:
🥫 Save the little pop tabs from your drink cans.
🎒 Send them to school with your child.
🏫 We’ll collect them in special boxes in their classrooms.
💥 Bonus fun: The classroom with the most pop tabs by February 11th will win a pizza party from our amazing PTO! 🍕🎉
Every pop tab helps families stay close to their children while they receive care at local hospitals. Let’s see how many tabs our Lake Hawks can collect! 💪

Our student-run store, The Hawk House, donated $9,400 to The DubG Market, representing 20% of its profits from the 2024–2025 school year. According to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, this generous contribution will support more than 28,000 meals for families in need.
Proceeds from The Hawk House not only make this donation possible but also help fund opportunities for students across the District that are not supported by the general budget. Since its inception just a few years ago, The Hawk House has provided support for Ski Club transportation to Greek Peak, lodging and travel for our Drone Soccer Team, spirit wear for student-athletes, and many other student-led initiatives.
With the steadfast leadership of Mrs. Kaz Popovich (The Hawk House/Varsity Club) and Mrs. Amy Planty (The DubG Market/Junior Honor Society), these student-run organizations embody the leadership, generosity, and pride that make Watkins Glen CSD so special.
Special thank you to all of the WGCSD students that made this possible, the Food Bank of the Southern Tier for their partnership and for organizing the event, and to the Odessafile, WENY, and WETM for their media support and coverage.
