Corning Incorporated offered grants to local school districts to help with the ongoing technology needs. Grants were divided out based on student population and Watkins Glen was fortunate to receive a $10,000 award. In total Corning Inc donated $180,000 to help area schools.
The grant money will be used to purchase technology equipment and resources to help students learn in their virtual settings. A major part of the support is meant to deal with connectively needs of the district. Items include Hot Spots with monthly fees, or additional laptops and tablets needed to support a level playing field for our children.
We are very fortunate to have such a benefactor in our area. Our district and community are grateful for this donation. It will help defray the new and ongoing costs we must incur in order to support an equitable education for our children.
Pictured are children in our district using the hot spots while learning at home.
