Good Afternoon WGCSD Families and Caregivers!

As always, we hope you had a great week!

Shout out to Coach Chaffee, Coach Westervelt, and the Swimmin’ Women! They had a wonderful showing at Sectional Prelims on Wednesday evening. Amongst the MANY outstanding performances, was that of Faye Mooney. Faye qualified for the New York State Championships for swimming in the Breaststroke. Faye is our first state qualifier in swimming since approximately 2011!

Good luck to all of our student athletes taking part in sectional competition this weekend! On Saturday, our Varsity Swim team looks to defend their Section 4 Class C Swimming and Diving Championship in the WG Pool. Tonight, our varsity football team travels to Chenango Forks to compete in the highly contested Section 4 Class C semi-finals on Friday night. Again, good luck to all of our student-athletes, coaches, and families!

Live stream information can be found on our District webpage, or on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

If you have yet to do so, please be sure to take some time to complete your Brightbytes school climate survey. It is important that we reach statistical relevance as we work to establish a baseline for our school climate. Our data collection window will be open through 11/10. The survey can be found here. Thank you for time and energy on this important topic!

Update: The District is now over 60 positive cases District-Wide since the school year started. The majority of our positive cases are now recovered and are back in school.

We will be partnering with Schuyler County Public Health to hold a vaccination clinic on Sunday, November 14th from 10-1 in the HS cafeteria. Pre-registration will be required. All vaccines will be available and free of charge for ages 5 and up. Vaccine options include, first doses, second doses, third doses and boosters, for all vaccine types. More details will be released as they are finalized.

The test-to-stay program has been in the local news lately. The District is hopeful that we can implement this program soon. Once the program is ready, we will communicate the details.

The NYS COVID School Report Card system is now working. The link to it can be found here https://schoolcovidreportcard.health.ny.gov. Click on “Public Schools”, type in “Watkins Glen”, and a list will drop down for you to select both building specific and district level data.

As always, thank you for your continued support and cooperation!

Have a great weekend!

Go Senecas!
