Hello WGCSD School Community,
Thank you for taking the time to review the recent communication regarding New York State requirements for medications and personal care items in schools.
I would like to provide one additional clarification regarding students carrying medications at school:
The only medications that a student may self-carry are emergency medications, such as EpiPens, Neffy, Valtoco, emergency inhalers, and diabetic supplies, as determined by their healthcare provider.
To self-carry these medications, the District must have:
A healthcare provider's order;
A completed provider attestation indicating the student has been evaluated and can safely and appropriately use and store the medication; and
Written parent/guardian permission.
If you have questions or need the required forms, please contact your child's school health office. Our nursing staff will be happy to assist you and provide the documentation needed for your healthcare provider to complete.
Forms to address over the counter medical needs can be accessed below via our Health Office website:

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
SOAR, LAKE HAWKS!
Respectfully,
Kai D'Alleva
Superintendent of Schools
