We at Watkins Glen Elementary School have used the Accelerated Reader Program since the 2004-2005 school year. Over the years we have introduced many fun reading programs in conjunction with the AR program, as a way to monitor student growth and success with reading. Some of the programs where elaborate like the Read for Speed program run in partnership with Watkins Glen International. Others were simplified with periodic celebrations or fun principal challenges. No matter the program, each one was meant to jump start a child’s love for reading. 

The Accelerated Reader program offers a great way to monitor student success, but this is not done well without parent support. Your knowledge of the program will only enhance your child's learning excitement. Here is a parents Guide to AR.  The AR Bookfinder website is a web portal that you and your child can use to search the library of book quizzes available when students access the Accelerated Reader program at school.
