Preserving the past, preparing for the future.
On March 28, 2017, Watkins Glen Central School District residents will vote on a $12.6 million capital project that carries no additional tax impact. The capital project presented to voters for consideration has been developed with two goals in mind; protecting the investment the community has already made in our facilities and preparing our facilities to meet future educational needs. This project is another step in the district's history of providing the best programs and facilities for our children. There is already a plan in place to pay for this project that will result in no additional taxes to the taxpayers in our district.
The scope of the work includes necessary upgrades to the athletic fields and our Elementary School building, along with a number of other items. Much like a homeowner making repairs to maintain a house, the district must attend to certain maintenance items. In addition, we want to create a school district that is a community center used by all residents. Specific items to be addressed are outlined in the Proposed Work Highlights section.
We encourage all district residents to attend the informational presentation to learn the specifics of this proposed capital project and what it can do for our community.
